Created by the grandsons of the famous Maytag Appliance founder, Elmer Maytag, this handmade blue is a part of American history & tradition. In 1940, with the herd of show cattle that had been in their family for a generation, they enlisted a dairy professor from Iowa State University to guide them in their endeavors to create a new cheese. A year later emerged the first wheels of Maytag Blue, a semi-hard, pristinely white tangy cheese that envelops & lingers on your palate, making you long for more.
